I did get chance to sketch out some ideas for a separating door between the corridors the main rooms. The ideas stemmed from when we covered how to add an automatic door, and were shown the possiblities. I decided that i could create a static mesh that didnt need to move, but just look like an open door. After a few sketches i thought maybe once i had modelled the door i could use it to model a door blast open.
I preferred the second style most with the central wheel and decided to start modelling it. It was fairly straight forward to model, but i now appreciate the use of blueprints. Im yet to unwrap and texture it, but it will get done in the near future.
My tutor also suggested adding a ventilation shaft of sorts, to make use of the allowed size restrictions adding more depth to the level as a whole. I thought this was a good idea and churned out a rather simplistic fan blade and shaft that i will hopefully be able to animate rotating. When i have placed it in the level I will add a light at the top of the shaft and possibly a small sky texture and possibly try to animate it rotating, so that it gives some atmosphere to the level.
We were also shown how to add a lift, a fluid surface and volume and a window. I wasnt entirely sure of my level style at the time so i created only a mock of each to get the gist of it, and then i could redo it when i was ready... so as you can see im falling slightly behind and i get the feeling i come christmas ill have even more catching up to do.
Really liking that door!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing some great modelling Pete. The Staircase, even though its a stair case looks really well textured and modelled.
ReplyDeleteThe door also is coming along great. Keep at it.
