Studying a Bachelor Degree in Game Art, hopefully learning the skills to design model and texture characters in a game ready fashion, and how not to chronically abuse 3d studio max i have decided to compile a journal of my day to day workings...

3 IBM PC's

The festivities are over and ive finally got back onto the mountain of work left to complete this module. I quickly finished texturing the blasted hole with somewhat of a bodge job. I couldnt figure out how to merge the static meshes texture seemlessly with the floor texture, so i havent. I matched the size as well as i could and have positioned it to the best of my eyes ability. Hopefully with the darkness of the area it wont be too noticeable.

Briefly before we broke up i began working on a computer system of sorts to place in the observation room. I spent some time looking at old IBM systems i liked the boxi-ness of them with all the pointless flashing lights and buttons so based my model on a few of the older machines. I used the base shape of a standalone unit which was easy to model, added some detail in the form of a power unit contained within a door and textured with images of the net. I added an asymmetrical second unit facing the first and modelled some wires, the hardest part of the entire model, which attach both to a third unit in the corner.

On adding it to the editor i had to add some simple blocking volumes as on approaching either from certain angles caused me to become trapped within it. I have some finishing details to add to the texture, and the third machine to do over the next few days.

Happy Holidays.
